The Story of The San Miguel Shoe

San Miguel Shoes are the brainchild of cobbler Santiago Gallardo Muniz and his wife, Martha.

Twelve years ago, the husband and wife team from San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, known for its narrow, cobblestone streets, decided to create a woman's shoe that would be stylish and fashionable yet comfortable enough to be a real walking sandal. They designed their shoes to have rubber-like, shock-absorbing soles and wide, colorful elastic straps that don't pinch or bind but rather hold the foot securely in place. They gathered the best materials from around the world to craft each pair of San Miguel Shoes. The result is a sandal that provides fit, wearability, elegance and style.

The success of Santiago and Martha has produced a happy clientel the world over.

Today, Paulina, the eldest daughter of Santiago and Martha, oversees the business end of the San Miguel Shoe Company. As always, you will find Santiago in the factory cobbling sandals while Martha holds court at their little shoe shop on Mesones Street in San Miguel.
